SysTray is a 32-bit ActiveX control for Visual Basic
(and other
languages) that allows you to safely place an icon in
the system
tray (bottom-right corner of the screen). You can
change tooltips and
icons on the fly and respond to mouse
movements and click and
double-click events from all three mouse
buttons. You can even use
built-in functionality to minimize a window
to and from the
system tray! And now, you can animate
your system tray
icon with one line of code! Three
examples are included.
At times, you want to write an application that runs in the
background or unattended
but still want a manner in which the user can access your
program.
Placing an icon in the system tray is perfect for
this type of
circumstance. Using this control protects you
from the inherent
instabilities (ie. crashes) of trying to implement similar
functionality in your own code.
